In this post, we’ll walk you through how to get started with the app, from requesting your Amazon data to exploring your spending trends and filtering transactions. Let’s dive in!
Step 1: Requesting Your Amazon Data
To get started, you’ll need to request your purchase data from Amazon. For a full tutorial on how to do this, see our post on Requesting Your Amazon Data. Otherwise, we have provided breif steps to follow below:
Log in to Your Amazon Account: Go to Amazon’s website and log in.
Navigate to the Request Page: Visit Amazon’s Data Request Portal.
Select Your Orders: Choose the Your Orders from the Select Your Data Dropdown menu.
Submit Your Request: Select the Submit Request button. Amazon will send you a confirmation email to confirm your identity. Once you confirm your identity, Amazon will process your request and notify you via email when the data is ready to download. This can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
Once you receive the email, download the CSV file to your computer. Keep it handy for the next step.
Step 2: Uploading Your Amazon Data into DataDyno
Uploading your data to DataDyno is simple:
Log in to DataDyno: Create an account or log in to your existing one.
Select Import File: Navigate to the "Upload File" button at the top right of your screen.
Drag and Drop Your File: Either select the purple box or drag and drop the file from the previous step.
Select Proceed: Once you have uploaded your Amazon Order file, select Proceed.
Once uploaded, DataDyno will begin processing your data. Data processing occurs in two steps. You will immediately be able to view your transactions and transaction related charts. However, it can take up to 45 minutes for us to fully process your data. Therefore you will be able to view category-level and subcategory-level charts and insights once your data is fully processed.
Step 3: What You Can See While Your Data is Being Processed
While DataDyno processes your data, you’ll see:
A Progress Indicator: Stay updated on the processing status in real-time.
Transaction-based Charts & Insights: You will immediately be able to visualize your Amazon spending based on the amount of you've spent over time. But hang tight as we are making your data even more insightful by adding category-level information and insights. This takes some time though, but we promise it's worth it!

Step 4: Insights and Spending Breakdowns After Data is Processed
Once your data is processed, you’ll gain access to a detailed breakdown of your Amazon spending in the "Home" tab:
Category Breakdown: See how much you’ve spent on categories like electronics, groceries, and home goods.
Monthly Category Trends: View a clear timeline of your spending patterns by category and sub-category.
Top Purchases: Identify the items or services you’ve spent the most on.
Use these insights to better understand your spending habits and identify areas where you can save.
Step 5: Viewing Spending Trends
The "Trends" section offers a high-level overview of your spending patterns:
Interactive Graphs: Explore visualizations of your spending over time as bar charts or area charts.
Custom Time Frames: Adjust the date range to focus on specific periods.
Trend Analysis: Spot increases or decreases in spending to guide your budgeting decisions.
Step 6: Viewing and Filtering Transactions
Drill down into your purchases on the "Transactions" tab with powerful filtering tools:
Search by Category: Filter transactions to see spending on specific categories.
Date-Based Filters: Narrow down transactions by specific time periods.
Spending Summaries: View summaries of your transactions based on the data and category filters you applied.
